There is no doubt that the entire collection of Elvang Denmark's textiles is remarkable beautiful.  At iD Chicago, we know that beauty doesn't mean anything if it's only skin deep, which is why the more we learned the more we loved this stunning collection of scarves, throws, and pillows.

Super softness
The fibres of the alpaca wool are fine and thin, and textiles made of alpaca wool are thus very soft. Baby alpaca wool is extra fine and soft and primarily comes from the first cut of the alpacas, when they are about 2½ years old.

Alpaca is the only kind of wool in the world that does not contain lanolin, which is often the source of allergic reactions towards wool. If you have an allergic reaction to lanolin, you can use textiles of pure alpaca wool.

Warm lightweight
The fibres of the alpaca woolare semi-hollow; giving Alpaca fibre added insulating value. We use this quality to weave extra fine and thin textiles that will still keep you warm. And when it is warm, the textiles feel cool.

The structure of the alpaca fibre makes it more hard-wearing than other wool fibres as for instance sheep wool and cashmere. Thus you can have your alpaca products for many years.

Minimum pilling
Textiles made of sheep wool often pill and get bits of fluff. This is due to the fact that wool fibres are uneven, which make the fibres stick to each other and eventually develop bits of fluff. Alpaca fibres are however smooth. Due to the large content of alpaca wool and a special technique of weaving our products have minimum pill.

Natural colours
Alpaca wool comes in almost all natural colours – off white, grey, golden, brown and black – more than 20 natural colours. No other natural fibre comes in the same variety of natural colours.

Dirt repellent
Both alpaca wool and sheep wool are dirt repellent. Our products tolerate daily use for many years and maintain their appearance. If it is necessary, we recommend that you have the products dry-cleaned at an eco-friendly dry cleaner.

To Elvang Denmark it is natural to operate socially responsibly. Our primary raw material is alpaca wool from the Peruvian alpaca, and our products are made in Peru.

We feel a responsibility for the humans and animals that are involved in the production of our textiles and we want to give something back to the Peruvian society. Therefore we want to treat our employees well, secure good working conditions within our supply chain, help with education, pay shepherds and workers fairly and produce and transport in an environmentally friendly way.
